Clinton Hill, Brooklyn
This spot had the most character – David is a writer and has a huge collection of books that are displayed nicely throughout the apartment. The place was nice and comfortable to stay in all day, which was perfect because it was February and freezing outside most of the time. We were here during the Super Bowl and NBA All Star Weekend.
The location was okay – it was 2 minutes away from the Clinton/Washington stop, where we could catch the C line which runs about once every 10 minutes.
We were also close to the F/G, but we didn’t take that line very often.
West Village, Manhattan
Cool neighborhood, tiny spot. This was a 300 Square Foot studio on W 10th and Bleecker. A little cramped for long term living, but worth it to get a feel for the area for a month. Our host has a cleaning lady come twice per month which was nice because she also did our laundry.
Cobble Hill, Brooklyn
This place had us searching for apartments in Cobble Hill. The neighborhood vibe was cool and this particular spot was super close to the F/G trains. Easy access to lots of things: Van Leeuwen creamery, Trader Joe’s, Shake Shack, and more.
The apartment itself was nice too – 20ft ceilings, large windows, and lots of interesting decor to look at. And a Tempur-Pedic bed.
This is where I watched the Warriors/Pelicans series.
Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn
This place itself was nice. Newly remodeled and very modern & artsy. It was so new, though, that it felt un-lived in… I would have changed certain things like adding hooks in certain places, or added other touches to make a guest’s stay comfortable.
This was the farthest we had to walk to the subway (8 minutes?), but the neighborhood in general was very chill and beautiful. It was cool to walk over the Gowanus Canal whenever we had to visit Whole Foods, which was a short walk away.
The host was an artist and had a good eye for decor, but she was also quite strange…
Btw this is where I watched both the Warriors/Grizzlies and Warriors/Rockets series.
East Village, Manhattan
Carla’s spot was on the 5th floor. That’s the first thing that comes to mind. Guaranteed out of breath upon entering the unit. The place itself was fine, but you don’t realize how much you need couch until you try living without one.
The place was on East 4th Street between 1st and 2nd Ave. The neighborhood has a very young, lively vibe. Tons of restaurants and bars, and we were 9 streets away from Finnerty’s which was perfect timing as we were here during the NBA Finals.
